I can't in good conscience recommend this to other fans. Sadly, I don't know if I can stomach finishing it at all. I'm a long time Syberia fan and I wanted to love this game. Please understand that I take no pleasure dissing this game. And there are plenty of closeups so that I could bask in their greatness. Climb the water tank ladder and operate the lever to fill the tanks. Latch the nozzle with that same lever and return to the pier. Open the coupling wider with the lever, then move the nozzle inside. I do tend to associate Syberia with a certain amount of quirkiness, but this time it feels like it's going for a serious vibe with the bad guys and they're just ridiculous.Īnimations are horrible, specifically the facial animations. Up the gangway and forward alongside the coal hatch is the fill nozzle from the water tank and its coupling on the deck. Villains are beyond laughable and it doesn't seem to be on purpose. I can privately deduce why she does what she does, but that's my reasoning and not something the game bothered to get across. Kate comes across as directionless, as if she picked up a goal because she can't think of anything else to do. At this point this should've been a completely different tribe instead, there was no reason to call them Yukols. Gone are the magnificent Mammoth bones and hides, and the settlements in an icy tundra. They're also a nomadic tribe now, who just won't settle down (oh noes). the story elements that became associated with the. I felt S3 lacks a lot of the Syberia 'culture', i.e. Surprisingly, I disagree almost with every point of contention the author raises, and especially when he gives it a 3/10 rating. I thought Syberia 3 was a fantastic game. So far I've only glimpsed two little mammoth figurines one Yukol had made. The article's view seems to be overwhelmingly negative, but I disagree. The good old Mammothcentric Yukols are now all about Ostriches. And currently I'm stuck on a puzzle where I know exactly what to do, but I can't, because it requires speed and I just don't have precise enough control to get the objects move where they should in time.Ī few words about the story: Yukols in this game come across as a completely different tribe than the ones I knew from the previous game. Can't play without subtitles, that don't even always match the spoken words. About three or four times I had to use a walkthrough simply because I failed to take Kate to a specific spot at which the camera would suddenly swing around and reveal another angle at which I could find what I was looking for. The controls are clunky, awkward, the character's getting stuck a lot. Something as basic as walking around is extremely unpleasant due to camera swaying and zooming around at uncomfortable angles and trajectories. I'm not even halfway through yet, and I can barely stand the horrendous game mechanics. I didn't want to write a review until I'd finished the game, but I'm making an exception out of frustration.
